Polyurethane Coupling

Polyurethane is an elastomeric coupling material that is resilient and flexible with optimum damping capabilities. Polyurethanes are the best elastic choice for applications that require high torque in confined spaces or applications that require resistance to atmospheric elements such as ozone, sunlight and hydrolysis. They are impact, oil, chemical and abrasion resistant. The teeth of polyurethane couplings can be bent to compensate for misalignment, but they are rigid enough to function in almost any application. In their simplest form, polyurethane couplings are used to connect two shafts to a coupling at the same time, preventing the shaft-loaded operation from being disconnected and transmitting power. Their main purpose is to connect two rotating devices and allow them to operate with some misalignment. The main applications are in industrial equipment such as connecting a drive shaft to a driven shaft.
